Molly Keane Writers Retreat

2012 Writers Week in Ardmore a Great Success

Another successful Writer’s Week has just taken place at the Molly Keane Writers Retreat in Ardmore.  This is the third year of the Writer’s Retreat which receives on going support from Waterford County Council’s Arts Office and the Arts Council of Ireland.

Fourteen emerging writers gathered in Molly's house from the 13th to the 19th of August for the workshops ably facilitated by Lani O'Hanlon. Lani has been instrumental in bringing this retreat week to fruition since it’s inception three years ago and received well deserved plaudits from the participants for her ability to nuture their creativity and to give focus to their work.  This year the special guest writer was poet  Grace Wells  who ran a fascinating workshop on 'Going where the Unconscious wants to take Us'.  On the final night the popular public reading had a capacity audience with Grace reading  from her debut collection 'When God Has Been Called Away to Greater Things', which won the Rupert and Eithne Strong Best Debut Collection award 2011.
